Katie Tandy

About Author

Katie is a writer, editor, songbird, and sandtrap where anything interesting is invited to stop by and stay forever. She is the former cofounding editor of two feminist online publications—Ravishly, and The Establishment, which championed marginalized voices, stories, and creators and greeted more than a million readers a month.

A veteran alt-weekly journalist, Katie has worked as a reporter for the East Hampton Star, the SF Weekly, The East Bay Express, the Ark, and Oakland Magazine. She is particularly interested in the intersection of art, social justice, and the human body.

She is the playwright behind 'Galatea', a modern rock adaptation of 'Pygmalion', and "Mothers All" a dystopian drama tracing the evolution of artificial reproduction technology. In her spare time she is a Disrupter on the board of the San Francisco literary reading series Quiet Lightning, fronts the Oakland rock band The Shattucks, and is working on a memoir manuscript braiding together stories from her childhood with human physiology. She lives and writes in the Oakland hills.
